Step 3: Volunteer training & Staff turnover

While an adaptive surf program may run over the course of many years, not all staff will remain and new staff will enter the organisation. To make sure the operation keeps running smooth and safe, it is important to get new staff trained and up to speed with all protocols before working independently.

Process to follow, staff turn over.

Initial Work Training New staff needs to learn about the work protocols. (preparation-development-completion) in the surfing activity for people with autism grade 1 in volunteer cases and complete in cases of new IST / ISTC).

Role-playing simulation of all the processes and procedures established in the manual. Role playing is with other volunteers and staff, not yet with the participants.

Practical Observational Training through assistance to the surfing activity with people with grade 1 autism, without direct intervention and under the supervision and guidance of the ISTC, including self-evaluation processes that the promoters (as trainers) create according to the objectives they intend to reinforce as learning in organizational competencies.

Active practical training, with gradual participation in the work (observing the work of the outgoing personnel + repeating the work of the outgoing personnel observed + chaining the process until it is functionally carried out). From the 3rd and successive stages, performs the professional or voluntary work competences with role autonomy.
