About Module 3: The 4 implementation phases
To effectively deliver surf activities for participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Level 1, the Manual of Best Practices recommends following four essential phases of planning, preparation, execution (development) and conclusion of sessions.
Session Planning Protocol
Prepare for each session by completing a CHECKIN report, which includes:
Planning logistics
Understanding the specific needs of the participants
Preparation Protocols (Preparation before students arrive)
Establish and follow detailed protocols for session preparation at the beach:
Logistics: Organize the necessary equipment and resources
Technical Aspects: Ensure all technical preparations are in place
Safety Measures: Implement safety protocols to protect participants and staff
Development Protocol (Session Execution while participants are present)
During the session, adhere to the following protocols:
Technical Workshops: Conduct technical workshops as planned
Feedback: Provide ongoing feedback to participants
Safety Protocols: Activate and follow preventive safety protocols throughout the session
Session Conclusion
Conclude the session with:
Final Evaluations: Perform evaluations of the session’s effectiveness and participant experience
CHECKOUT Report: Complete a CHECKOUT report to document outcomes and any necessary follow-up actions
